We are lucky to have a wonderful, caring and knowledgeable team at Embiara Lodge, all of whom share a deep passion for the Pantanal. The lodge is owned and run by our family, Paul and Tina, and their two sons, Sterling and Stefan.
Paul is Dutch but spent is childhood in Brazil. Tina is from California, and Stefan and Sterling were both born in Brazil. Our family first visited the Pantanal area in 1996. At the time, Paul was involved with river transport on the Parana-Paraguay River and wanted to familiarize himself with the region which had such an effect on the navigability of the river. When we visited the Pantanal of the Rio Negro, where our Lodge is now situated, it was love at first sight. We realized that this jewel of the Pantanal crown encompassed all of the natural occurrences of the Pantanal in a single place with a surprising abundance of wildlife.
Our team of trackers and wildlife guides is incredibly experienced and knowledgeable. Added to that, they are forever enthusiastic to share their knowledge. And they speak a number of different languages: English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Dutch and German.
